In 1986\, Bill and Joyce Cummings established Cummings Foundation\, which has grown to be one of the three largest private foundations in New England. They were the first Massachusetts couple to join the Giving Pledge\, an international philanthropic organization founded by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett\, and they have been honored to receive dozens of community accolades and honorary degrees. \nThe fireside chat will be moderated by Professor Usha Pasi of Tufts University. Refreshments will be served at a small reception with students\, faculty\, staff and community members after the event. \nAttendees are encouraged to read Bill’s self-written memoir\, Starting Small and Making It Big\, in advance. Ms. Burton is a Boston-based construction executive who has spent nearly three decades in the real estate development and construction industry. Ms. Burton is the founder and CEO of Maven Construction\, Inc. A Dorchester based general contractor with multimillion dollar annual revenue. Maven provides general contracting for the life science\, high density residential and tenant up-fit products. Ms. Burton has been a well sought after thought leader contributing to early versions of the LEED rating system\, publication of the EcoDistrict’s Protocol and founder of SRGE\, Boston’s Equity Impact Construction Incubator. Ms. Burton’s work has been acknowledged by the White House as a Champion of Change. \nJC will be joining us remotely in this hybrid fireside chat.
