SUMMARY:Entrepreneurial Workshop: Making Money! (Recording available)
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will cover unit and overall economics – two sets of concepts that are necessary for you to learn to build a financially sustainable venture. We will look into key concepts around cost of goods sold (COGS)\, life time value (LTV)\, and customer acquisition cost (CAC). We will show you how to think about forecasting revenue when everything is unknown about your business. We will demonstrate how to build a pro-forma profit-and-loss statement (P&L) and why this is a valuable exercise to examine your assumptions and ask the hard questions even though all the numbers are bound to be wrong at this early stage. \nThis session is led by Prof. George Blount of Tufts Gordon Institute and Derby Entrepreneurship Center. \nHosted by the Derby Entrepreneurship Center (DEC). \nThis Entrepreneurial Workshop Series is part of the Tufts Venture Accelerator. DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will explore various ways to make money through different business models and pricing strategies. We will look at how you can price your offerings in for-profit and non-profit situations\, especially in situations where your economic buyer may not be your end user or beneficiary. \nThis session is led by Prof. Tina Weber\, Faculty Director of the Tufts Venture Accelerator. \nHosted by the Derby Entrepreneurship Center (DEC). \nThis Entrepreneurial Workshop Series is part of the Tufts Venture Accelerator. SUMMARY:Entrepreneurial Workshop: Branding!
DESCRIPTION:When you look at a brand like Patagonia\, or Coca-cola\, or Apple\, you immediately know what they stand for. But it is so much more than just the logo and tag line. Branding starts with thinking about the company’s “why” and how you want to communicate to the world. Once you get that sorted\, the rest would follow: The logo (including a glyph and a word mark)\, top level positioning and so forth\, followed by a style guide with details on a color palette and the choice of fonts and typefaces that helps everyone who creates content for you achieve a unified look and feel. Join us in this workshop and hear how we use our accelerator’s own teams as case studies to dive into the actual process of building a brand from the ground up. \nThis session is led by Prof. Tina Weber\, Lecturer at the Derby Entrepreneurship Center and the Faculty Director of the Tufts Venture Accelerator\, 2022. \nHosted by the Derby Entrepreneurship Center (DEC). \nThis Entrepreneurial Workshop Series is part of the Tufts Venture Accelerator. Open to Full-Time Tufts Venture Accelerator Cohort Members only.
