DESCRIPTION:Ever wondered what it takes to build a fintech solution\, but weren’t sure how to start? The Cross-University FinTech Hackathon is your chance to find out — no coding or finance background required. \nJoin students from Tufts and universities across the area to tackle a real problem: how can fintech make life easier for college students managing money? You’ll form a team\, brainstorm a solution\, and build it out with guidance from entrepreneurial coaches and subject matter experts who’ll show you how to use AI tools to solve real problems at warp speed— all in just a few hours. By the end of the day\, you’ll pitch your idea to a panel of judges and fellow participants for a shot at cool snacks and swag. \nStick around afterward for a large cross-university Student Innovators Mixer — the perfect chance to keep the energy going\, meet founders and innovators from other schools\, and expand your network beyond the hackathon. \nThis event is open to Tufts students\, alumni\, faculty\, and staff\, as well as students from other universities in the area. No experience necessary — just come ready to unwind\, breathe\, and reconnect with yourself (and maybe a few fellow stressed-out Jumbos). \nAbout Ryan Friedman\nRyan Friedman\, a 2025 graduate of the Fletcher School at Tufts\, is Founder of Practices and Perspectives\, a full-spectrum nonprofit wellness hub and media agency dedicated to amplifying ancient methods for reconnecting soil\, soul\, and society. DESCRIPTION:What’s in the air you’re breathing right now? \nJoin the Local Haze team at the Nolop FAST Facility Makerspace to learn how to build a device that answers that question. We’ll start with a short talk on why air quality matters\, then look at the options for measuring it and the designs and kits available for building a low-cost monitor. Then we’ll demonstrate how to assemble an AirGradient Open Air Monitor Kit\, followed by discussion and pizza. \nOpen to Tufts students\, faculty\, and staff of all backgrounds; no prior electronic or environmental science experience required. \nAbout Karen Donoghue \nKaren Donoghue\, a Tufts alumna and Jumbopreneur\, is an expert product designer\, strategist\, author\, and entrepreneur. She is Founder and Principal of HumanLogic\, a boutique product design consultancy specializing in early-stage product strategy and de-risking complex technical systems.
