Description

Overview

This course is designed to help students develop the knowledge, confidence, skills, and self-image necessary to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in such domains as business, government, and public service. It provides a foundation in the fundamentals of entrepreneurial leadership, as well as a source of inspiration and energy in the art and science of taking visions and bringing them to reality.

Learning Outcomes

Students will have a sharper focus on coming from a place of authenticity; this could play out as:

  • Fostering more meaningful relationships with teams and others with whom they interact/work
  • Making what they do/what their team does more relatable and potentially advancing higher stakes conversations in a more productive way
  • Being the more memorable job candidate when responding to interview questions

Course Topics and objectives

  • Explore how to be a human leader – the importance of coming from a place of why and articulating passions and aspirations
  • Learn to engage and inspire those around us – understanding the importance of storytelling (the stories help to substantiate our why and motivate audiences to take some sort of action) and embracing vulnerability to instill confidence

What people say

“This course helped me develop my personal values and purpose, and understand my “why” in life. This course pushed me to develop a “why” mindset and question my reasoning for applying for an internship, choosing which classes to take, and even which relationships (e.g., friends, family, colleagues, group members) to value.”
