Julia Hallman
Owner, Formaggio Kitchen
Julia’s interest in food began naturally as a young girl growing up on a small farm in Eastern Oregon. Looking for a deeper connection to her food and the community after getting her undergraduate degree at Tufts University, she was drawn to Formaggio Kitchen and joined the team in 2007 for what was supposed to be a three-month seasonal position. She transitioned to a full-time employee where she was promoted to buyer and lead imports manager and was eventually named the general manager of Formaggio Kitchen’s flagship location in Cambridge in 2017. In 2022, Julia assumed ownership of all three Boston-area stores. Julia’s mission is to continue the thoughtful sourcing and close relationships that Formaggio Kitchen has fostered over the past 45+ years. Beyond that, she strives to strengthen Formaggio Kitchen’s reputation as a hub of the community – as a place where folks can gather and share their passion for community and great foods.
