Chip Terry

Founder and CEO, Blue Trace

Chip is a product, marketing and technology leader with a track record of turning great ideas into reality. He has helped companies small and large navigate a world being changed by new technologies – both in the US and internationally. Curiosity and a willingness to embrace new challenges has led him on a career trajectory from a PhD in History to management of some of the most sophisticated social media and big data solutions in the world.

Most recently, Chip founded Blue Trace, a company that is building a traceability system for shellfish growers. The company has raised a seed round of funding, has a growing list of clients and are ahead of early growth estimates.

Among his previous experiences, he led the product and engineering teams at BzzAgent (a word-of-mouth marketing startup). BzzAgent’s success with clients like P&G led to their acquisition by the British based customer science company, dunnhumby. After the acquisition, Chip acquired a global role as SVP of Product and Engineering for the media business, with a team largely based in London. In his ~4 years in that role, he oversaw the sophisticated media products that deliver personalized media to consumers at global retailers in the US, Europe, Asia and South America.

Prior to BzzAgent, Chip was GM and VP at ZoomInfo, a powerful natural language processing company. He was responsible for helping lead the business from its traditional roots in recruiting to the world of sales and marketing. During his tenure, the “Sales Intelligence” business grew from less than $100k in annual revenue to over $10 million.

He also spent 4.5 years at Forrester Research in positions including VP of Strategy and VP of Marketing.

Outside of work, he races sailboats, mountain bikes, skis, plays poker, and most importantly, tires to keep up with his two kids and wife. He is on the board of Courageous Sailing, a youth charity in Boston that delivers a unique educational program to over 1,200 at-risk kids.
