Damla holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Bogazici University, Turkey, and she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Following her doctoral studies, she pursued postdoctoral research at Tufts University from 2010 to 2012. In addition to her technical qualifications, she furthered her education by earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, enhancing her ability to bridge the worlds of science and business seamlessly.
