Luca Mazzaferro, EG23, received a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. During his undergraduate studies he worked on the development of thermo-chemically and mechanically stable polymeric composites. At Tufts, he is exploring the development of new and scalable membranes by using novel and functional self-assembled copolymers to create high performance thin-film composite membranes as part of the Asatekin Lab. The lead inventor in two provisional patent applications, he is interested in entrepreneurship. He has worked closely with ZwitterCo, a start-up that has commercialized a technology developed at Tufts.
